Poker enthusiasts who opened playing accounts at Caesars’ WSOP-NJ site from November 21 through December 9, 2013, will have a free seat in the $250,000 Invitational Freeroll, the first in the 9-series “New Jersey Online Championships Tournament”. Eligibility requirements include being physically located in New Jersey at the time of account creation, and during participation in the online poker tournament slated to kick-off on January 19, 2014.
For players signing up as WSOP.com members by December 10, 2013 up to January 16, 2014, they can still qualify for the promotional entry ticket; but they have to make a minimum deposit of $10 when opening an online playing account.
The promotional offer and tournament could help Caesars secure the topmost position in the Garden State’s online gambling industry, since WSOP.com initially led the pack of online poker sites when it peaked with 300 players on the first day of going live. Its closest NJ competitor Borgata-Bwin’s PartyPoker had 295 players.
However, the latter, lost no time in attracting potential NJ players by offering a host of sign up bonuses and promotional tournaments right on day one of becoming publicly available. All of which proved to be effective, as the latest weekly report from PokerScout shows PartyPoker/Borgata currently dominating the online poker action in NJ. Its player peak grew to 501 after the first week, while cash game traffic averaged at 170 for a seven-day period. Caesars’ WSOP.com trailed behind at an average of 130 cash games for the same week.
